We first started holding these rallies at the 35 year reuion. Ron Glenn has organized all of them. At the 35 year, I road with Jane Groves in her Grand Prix. At the 40, I drove my Cadillac CTS-V with a 400 HP LS6 V-8 and six speed manual Tremec transmission. Jane Groves was a passenger that time. At the 45, Linda Russell, Marilyn Faulconer and I road in Mark McFarland’s BMW M3 (we called ourselves Team Depends).
These rallies take us all around the Bartlesville area to sites we used to visit in high school. Past rallies have taken us to Johnstone Park, the Capri Theater (Dewey Dirties), the section lines east of town (parking?), Dody’s Dumps, Circle Mountain, Woolaroc and lots more. Ron has some good ones for us this time.
The teams will be given instructions at the Team meeting just before departure. Participants will be released at time intervals. There will be check points along the way where your arrival times will be recorded. The instructions include an average speed instruction, so the time one arrives at a check point is supposed to match up with the time and distance traveled. If one arrives too early or too late, penalty points (minutes) will be assessed.
A new feature of this rally will be activities at the check points. These activities will be competitions that will allow a team to earn bonus point (to offset the penalty minutes). Snacks and refreshments will be provided, too.
