This road rally is for fun only.  Ron Glenn, the Rally Master is not responsible for anything, especially the accuracy of the directions given below.  Participants do so at there own peril and agree to hold everyone, including President Biden, harmless for any accidents, tickets, or any other loss that may occur to them, spectators, passengers and wildlife, as a result of participating in this voluntary rally.  And please, no wagering!

WHAT DO YOU DO?

The purpose of this time, distance, navigation and event rally is to see if you can follow directions, compute your elapsed time and make sure that you are exactly where you should be on the course for any given time during the rally.  In addition each car will draw one playing card at each surprise check-point in order to make a poker hand to be used as a tie breaker.  To make it more fun, there will also be a different “challenge event” at each check-point that will count toward your score.  Upon arrival at a checkpoint each car should quickly decide on 1-3 persons to participate in the event.  You will have 5 or 10 minutes to complete the challenge, which is figured into your time schedule.

You should arrive at a checkpoint at a precise time if you have followed the given speeds on your form.  For every minute you are early you will gain 2 points and for each minute late you will gain 1 point.  The car/team with the lowest score is the winner.  In case of a tie not solved by their poker handa designated member from each team will participate in a game of rock, paper, and scissors to determine the ultimate winner.

ROAD RALLY TIPS

Watch your distance and speed and figure out how long each section should take you to travel.  Write down the estimated times and monitor your actual time to see if you are behind, ahead or on schedule.

For example, if the called for speed is 30 mph, you would go 1 mile every two minutes; or ½ mile in 1 minute; or ¼ mile in 30 seconds; or 1/10 mile every 12 seconds.  If you are supposed to go .3 miles on a section, it should take you 36 seconds for that section.  By adding up the sections your elapsed time can be determined and compared to your actual time to get to where you presently are.

The distances and speeds are given so you can have someone figure the sections ahead of time as you go.  If all of this is too complicated just drive at the designated speed and hope for the best.  The drive will be worth it whether you win or lose.

RULES

No cheating.  Cheating would be the use of cell phones or other methods to convey information to other cars or persons that would help them to win or complete the course.  The decisions of the Rally Master are final.
